Password protected harddisk troubles with usb casing
I borrowed an usb casing for my old 2.5″ laptop harddisk. However it kept giving me “invalid partition table” error when I tried to access it, or format it. It works fine however with the 2nd harddisk adaptor for the cdrom bay.
Finally I realised that the harddisk was password protected, so when it was in the 2nd harddisk adaptor it could unlock it at boot time with the bios, but when it’s hotplugged with the usb casing there is no mechanism for unlocking it. I disabled password protection for the second hard disk in bios (with 2nd harddisk adaptor), then it worked with the usb casing.
