I wanted an applet on my gnome panel that translates german to english for me. After testing many less than ideal translator applications I found that the gdict applet which I already have running also supports many bilingual dictionaries for lookups. I just need to point it to the right server, for me this would be dict.tugraz.at. Here’s a list of servers that supports the DICT protocol.
