network is down at boot
After updating debian ethernet pcmcia card at eth0 is down after booting. I have to reinsert the card again to bring it up. The strange thing is I can see it been successfully brought up and obtaining an IP during boot, so a later process must have brough it down. After playing aimlessly in /etc/rcS.d (scripts run at boot time) and /etc/rc2.d, I noticed whereami was been run soon after network was setup. I wasn’t using whereami and I didn’t set it up properly so I removed it and now the network works again.
